Chapman welcomes partner Steven Washington to the firm’s prominent public finance practice. Washington has more than twenty years of public finance experience representing state and local government issuers, not-for-profit organizations, and investment banking firms on a variety of financing transactions. Washington joins Chapman from Ice Miller. Prior to joining Ice Miller in 2010, he served as Chief of Staff to the president of the Chicago Board of Education. Prior to that, Washington was a partner at Mayer Brown.
“We are very pleased to welcome Steven to Chapman,” said Greg Klamrzynski, Chapman’s Chief Executive Partner. “Public finance has been a foundational practice of the firm for more than 100 years and the addition of Steven strengthens an already market-leading team of public finance attorneys in Illinois.”
Erin Bartholomy and Kyle Harding, co-leaders of Chapman’s Illinois Public Finance Department stated that the firm’s strong public finance platform, particularly in Illinois, was instrumental in attracting Washington to Chapman. “Steven is highly-regarded and well-known in the municipal finance community and we are delighted he chose to join our group,” noted Bartholomy. “The breadth of Steven’s experience in this space will strengthen our formidable market presence and provide us with a stronger platform to advise market participants in all aspects of public finance, banking, corporate finance, and securities transactions,” said Harding.
“Chapman is one of the premier law firms in the nation for state and municipal finance,” said Washington, “I am looking forward to contributing to Chapman’s growth and success.”
