Overview

The State of Illinois is known nationally for its commitment to sustaining and protecting its forests, prairies and natural habitats. Over the years, the firm's public finance attorneys have worked with many of the forest preserve and conservation districts in the State as bond counsel for the issuance of their debt obligations, including referendum and non-referendum general obligation bonds, revenue bonds, debt certificates and alternate bonds.

In addition to helping districts with their financings, we also act as special counsel to a forest preserve district in connection with environmental matters related to its landfills.

Forest preserve and conservation districts often channel proceeds of their borrowings into land acquisition slated for open space preservation. In rapidly developing areas, such efforts may be a district's last opportunity to acquire dwindling parcels of land for preservation and restoration. Trails, museums, sledding hills, golf courses and bikeways are just a sampling of the projects and facilities being constructed for the public's use to enhance the overall open space program. The firm takes great pride in being able to assist in the financing of these conservation initiatives
