Inclusion is a core value.
Inclusion is a core value at Chapman and a foundation for a Chapman community where lawyers and professional staff of all backgrounds thrive. For us, supporting an inclusive workplace is not just about good corporate citizenship—we firmly believe that different perspectives mean better, more effective solutions for our clients.
We invest in resources, training, and development programs that improve the recruitment, retention, and advancement of attorneys and professional staff within Chapman, and are supportive of inclusion programs within our client organizations.
Our investments include:
- Outreach. Chapman’s recruiting efforts include on-campus outreach with law student associations and student job fairs. We also provide pipeline opportunities for future lawyers.
- Mentorship. Chapman’s Mentoring Circles and Business Resource Groups (BRGs) provide supportive forums for creating community and providing guidance on all types of topics, including client service, practice development, leadership, and pro bono and community engagement.
- Leadership. Our firm leadership is reflective of our inclusion commitment. Our diverse group of role models enhances our retention efforts and encourages attorneys to seek opportunities to develop their management and leadership skills.
- Opportunity. Chapman’s leadership, including practice group leaders and mentors, monitors attorney growth and advancement and supports them on their career path.
- Training. Chapman conducts more than 75 programs a year on topics ranging from substantive legal topics to professional and leadership skill building. We partner with our clients to provide training and networking opportunities to foster relationships among industry peers.

- Chapman Scholarship
Each year, 2L law students are invited to apply for the Chapman and Cutler LLP Maynard H. Jackson Jr. Scholarship.
