Overview
Brian Coughlin is an associate and member of Chapman’s Corporate and Securities Department. He focuses his practice on corporate and transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, particularly regarding private equity investments, and a range of other equity and debt financing transactions, such as sales, equity offerings, private placements, and private and public company transactions.
Brian also represents institutional investors and sponsors of private investment funds such as hedge funds, private equity funds, and other investment vehicles. He works with private fund clients on fund formation and ongoing fund maintenance and compliance issues.
In the community, Brian serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate in Lake County, Illinois, where he advocates for the best interests of children involved in the court system.
Prior to joining Chapman, Brian practiced corporate law at an Am Law 200 firm in Chicago and previously served as a manager in the strategy and transactions group at Grant Thornton.
